Greater Northside Plaza CDC's purpose is to promote revitalizations of targeted communitities in Northeast Houston through housing, social services and economic development initiatives. Their mission is "to provide affordable housing and self-improvement programs to improve the quality of life for citizens in Northeast Houston."

As an outgrowth of the Northside Missionary Baptist Church's community outreach ministry, the Greater Northside Plaza CDC was created in July 1991 to address the rapidly growing need for affordable housing in Houston. The CDC fosters community- based projects that yield jobs and housing benefits to the residents of the community.

Greater Northside Plaza CDC has completed its Family Life Center, purchased three homes from the City and have collaborated with the Local Initiatives Supports Corporation (LISC) to rebuild two homes destroyed by Tropical Storm Allison.
