Holmes CDC is a private, non-profit single-family housing community and economic development organization. Established in 1996, the Holmes CDC has been diligently working towards the total revitalization of the Sunnyside Community in Houston, Texas. It pursues economic development, education, and self-help activities that ensures that all residents achieve their highest potential. Holmes CDC's mission "is to aid in the restoration in the quality of life by enriching family values, raising positive community awareness and promoting the overall betterment of mankind. We furthermore resole to: move favorably in addressing such ongoing issues as economic development, eliminate many, if not all, of societal ills and perpetuate health and self-help improvement programs as a non-profit corporation." Holmes CDC produces affordable housing and promotes homeownership as a part of a comprehensive neighborhood revitalization strategy. With the support of special programs and top lenders, the CDC provides families with credit counseling, homeownership education, homebuyer assistance and various home buying grants that can be given, if eligible.
