It is the responsibility and privilege of Community Development Corporations (CDCs) to work in some of the most challenging neighborhoods in Houston. Through their work, CDCs bring hope to depressed neighborhoods, create jobs in areas long abandoned by business, and build attractive, affordable housing that helps to anchor community redevelopment. CDC staff bear personal witness to the substantial shortage of decent-quality affordable housing and the tremendous need for community and economic development to rebuild many of Houston's older communities.
